Criticism Out Of Books Matilda's Last Waltz
A very engaging and enjoyable read. We begin with Jenny who is struggling with the recent loss of her husband and her son. She discovers she has inherited a working sheep station in the outback and out of curiosity she decides to travel from her beachside Sydney home and visit the station. We meet an interesting array of characters as she adjusts to life on the station, the most interesting is in the form of diaries from the previous owner Matilda. We learn of Matildas struggles and successes and

The best book I have ever read, I think. It's been a few years. I need to read it again. You have to read it, it won't let you down!

This book didn't disappoint from start to end. Wonderfully descriptive of the Australian terrain, you were transported to the fields of sugar canes, - you could also smell the sweet sickly pungent aroma.Jenny' life is turned upside down when her husband and son suddenly die.She inherits an outback ranch and so it begins. The story of hostility, jealousy, the brutal weather and the beauty that it brings.Jenny will learn Matilda's story through diaries she left behind.Matilda, you will instantly

I've had this book on my bookshelf at home for years, preferring to read books on my ereader, but I'm glad commonsense crept in and I finally read it! What a fantastic story! Tamara McKinley never fails to write a good story. Loved the character development in both parallel times, but Matilda herself was so formidable, my heart wept for her and the hardships this world had thrown at her. I read hundreds of books, but rarely do I feel that ongoing attachment to a character after the book is

When this book was recommended to me, I thought - oh, no, it's definitely not my type of reading, but the owner of the book insisted it was nothing like I have ever read. And now I totally agree with her. It's not some pink balloon of sugar life, it's about Australia and the tough life there, about women who have to live and fight for their lives all by themselves; it's about love and sacrifices; about how cruel the nature of people can be. I loved every part of this book. I loved it so much

Just picked it up from my mom's bookshelf and didn't expect much of it - in the end I couldn't put it down and it made me cry. Such a beautiful piece, it really draws gorgeous images in your mind. Lovely.
