Criticize Regarding Books DragonLight (DragonKeeper Chronicles #5)

I was under the mistaken impression this was the first in a series, not the finale. Then I was under the mistaken impression that this 'fantasy lite' was geared towards children - when, probably, its target audience is families. Tricky to write to appeal across such a broad age range. Maybe it would have better been directed at children, trusting that it would appeal to the child-like in adults.Without a background in the earlier books in the series, it was difficult to know exactly who Paladin

Having read the whole series and comparing each book, I think I liked the storylines here in DragonLight the best out of the entire series. The quest for the meech colony was interesting and quite different from the storylines of the previous books. It was also interesting to see how things played out with the introduction of the "Followers", who in many (unfortunate) ways seem like a modern day cult. Kale and Bardon's attention and efforts focus on both of these storylines through-out the book.

I want to love these books, I really do. I've found so much to like in each of them, but I just can't get past the heavy-handed preaching. In this last one we find out that it's not just wrong to disagree with the mainstream religion, diversity of thought is more evil than a mountain-sized, man-eating dragon. This is a great book set even further from the last book and Kale and Bardon live in a castle made by many different wizards who had different ideas of what to do with the structure. Somehow Kale and Bardon use the structure to help keep all the minor dragons they have safe within their castle with a garden and a basement. Bardon asks Kale if she would want to go on a quest to help Regidor, Glida find the hidden meech colony which multiple characters have talked about in the last few books.

Awww . . . it's over now. :( But I know that I will definitely be on the look-out for the the whole series at a bookstore as I definitely want to add them to my collection. :D This joins Chronicles of Narnia and the Lord of the Rings on my list of favorite fantasy series!!!
